Snoopy’s Back -The New MoonSwatch Mission to Earthphase Moonshine Gold
Snoopy’s back. And he’s not alone. This time, he’s sitting on the Moon, staring at the Earth, wrapped in gold. Welcome to the MoonSwatch Mission to Earthphase - Moonshine Gold. A name so long it almost needs its own orbit.
If that sentence already made your wallet twitch or your eyes roll, you're not alone. This new release from the Swatch x Omega collaboration brings back everyone’s favorite beagle in what might be the most "extra" MoonSwatch yet - and that’s saying something.

What’s New (And What Isn’t)
The Mission to Earthphase - Moonshine Gold (ref. SO33N701L) is the latest drop in a line that’s been keeping Swatch stores busy - and collectors half-frustrated, half-hyped - since 2022.
This model is essentially a remix. Take the complicated moonphase-equipped Earthphase (already a big step up from the OG chrono MoonSwatches), and slap on the following:
-
A dark navy bioceramic case
-
A white dial with sparkly aventurine-style accents (yes, fauxventurine is now a thing)
-
Snoopy and Woodstock, chilling on the Moon, gazing at the Earth
-
A UV-reactive speech bubble from Snoopy saying, “I beat everybody…”
-
A Moonphase disc with two golden moons made of Omega’s proprietary Moonshine Gold alloy - one with a fishing net, one with a paw print
-
A new rubber velcro strap, replacing the stiffer fabric ones
The price? €370 (approx.). Just one day to get it - August 9th, in select Swatch stores only. One per person.

My Take
So here’s the honest truth: this watch is a lot. It's like Swatch decided to combine everything that’s worked before - Snoopy, MoonSwatch, gold, and scarcity - and said, “Why not all of it at once?”
And honestly? I respect that.
On paper, it’s chaotic. In execution… well, it’s actually kind of charming. I haven’t seen it in person yet, but I’ve looked through every photo, every macro shot, and if you're the kind of person who appreciates playful, creative watchmaking, this might just hit.
The gold moons? A fun gimmick, even if the details (like the tiny paw print) are borderline invisible without a loupe.
The sparkle? Surprisingly tasteful. That fauxventurine texture adds visual depth, and on a sub-€400 watch, it’s impressive.
The rubber strap? Massive improvement. The original fabric straps were a chore - stiff, awkward, and too NASA-core for everyday wear. This new one seems way softer, more wearable, and still has that space-age velcro closure.

A Bit About the Moonshine Gold
Omega’s “Moonshine Gold” isn’t new - it’s their own blend of yellow gold that resists fading over time. Swatch has used it before in MoonSwatches, but always for a small detail, like the seconds hand.
Here, they’ve shifted the gold to the moonphase discs - a smart move. It makes more thematic sense, and feels less forced. One moon has a net over it (a reference to the “Sturgeon Moon,” linked to peak sturgeon fishing season), the other hides a dog paw print. It’s a tiny easter egg, and a bit random, but hey, it’s Snoopy. He's always been a bit random.

UV Trickery
Swatch knows we love a gimmick. Shine a UV light on this one, and you’ll get:
-
A hidden Snoopy quote (“I beat everybody…”)
-
UV-reactive water on the Earth dial
-
SuperLumiNova lume on the hands and hour markers
Do we need this? No. Do we like this? Kinda. It’s all part of the fun.

The Bigger Picture
MoonSwatches are not serious watches. They’re fun watches. They exist in this weird sweet spot between hype culture and horology - playful, collectible, not afraid to make the purists cringe.
But this one actually has a bit of substance. The moonphase complication, while quartz-powered, adds a level of mechanical charm that’s often missing in mass-market Swatches. And putting Snoopy front and center (again) guarantees emotional attachment from fans of the 1970s Omega Speedmaster Snoopy editions - watches that now cost north of €15,000 on the secondhand market.
This won’t scratch the itch if you're a Speedy purist. But if you're a fan of fun, wearability, and space dogs, it might be just enough.

A Quick Word on Release Strategy
Swatch’s “one-day-only” release drops are tiring. They create hype, sure. But they also create queues, flippers, and frustration. This one will only be available in person, on Saturday, August 9th, at selected Swatch boutiques around the world.
You’ll probably need to queue. You’ll definitely need to act fast. And yes, there’s a one-watch-per-person limit, which is better than nothing but still not ideal for accessibility.
Personally, I wish they’d make these available for a bit longer. Not every 20-year-old in Stuttgart or Prague can just drop everything and travel two hours to buy a watch with Snoopy on it.
But Swatch knows exactly what it’s doing. And as long as people keep lining up, they’ll keep the releases rare.
