The journey began in 2014 with the release of the Octo Finissimo Tourbillon, which garnered significant attention with its 1.95mm thickness. This turbine-like movement fitting into a case as thin as a coin seemed almost unbelievable.

In 2022, Bulgari introduced the Octo Finissimo Ultra, which held the title of the world's thinnest mechanical watch at 1.80mm. However, Richard Mille's RM UP-01, with its 1.75mm thickness, surpassed it soon after and held the record until now.

The development of the Octo Finissimo Ultra COSC involved a collaboration with movement specialist Concepto, completely rethinking every component and reengineering the entire watch. The process resulted in the filing of 8 patents and required meticulous assembly, with each movement taking about a week to complete.

Obtaining COSC chronometer certification adds to the significance of the Octo Finissimo Ultra COSC, as it underwent a rigorous 15-day testing process in various positions and temperatures.
The inclusion of a miniature Datamatrix on the back of the watch provides access to all the related data of the watch, replacing the traditional QR code.

Moreover, Bulgari has developed a special box for this exceptional timepiece, featuring a digital interface for winding and setting the time. Simply place the watch in the case, enter the desired time, and initiate the adjustment cycle with the press of a button. Within seconds, the watch is wound and set accurately.

The Bulgari Octo Finissimo Ultra COSC is available in a limited edition of 20 pieces, with a retail price of 600,000 EUR. Additionally, Bulgari is releasing another version of the Octo Finissimo Ultra with a thickness of 1.80mm, crafted in tungsten carbide and platinum. This version features blue hour and minute dials and is also limited to 20 pieces.
