Swatch officially unveiled its collaboration with Audemars Piguet
Swatch officially unveiled its collaboration with Audemars Piguet and instead of the expected wristwatch, the brands introduced a completely unexpected format: pocket watches.
The collection consists of 8 models in two formats:
Lépine - a version with the crown at 12 o’clock featuring hours and minutes only
Savonnette - a version with the crown at 3 o’clock and a small seconds display at 6 o’clock
Inside is a hand-wound Swatch movement with an approximately 90-hour power reserve. The case is made from Bioceramic in a 40mm size
As we mentioned earlier, retail pricing is set at:
400$ for the Lépine version
420$ for the Savonnette version
It’s still too early to judge how successful the launch will be, but overnight Swatch Group shares dropped by 6.12%.
Many people in the industry believe classic wristwatch versions inspired by the Royal Oak could arrive later, although the brand has not confirmed anything yet.
The internet quickly started turning the release into memes. Many users also compared the new models to pet accessories and a new version of “Labubu” charms for bags.
