Rolex Submariner Watches Reach Nearly $50 Billion in Market Value
The total market value of all Rolex Submariner watches ever produced is estimated to approach $50 billion (CHF 44 billion), according to newly released data. A company-authorized book, Submariner: The Watch that Unlocked the Deep, revealed that nearly four million Submariner and Sea-Dweller models were made between 1953 and 2020.
Subdial, a UK-based second-hand watch trading platform, estimates these timepieces are worth $46 billion at current prices, a figure that nears $50 billion when accounting for models produced after 2020.

The Submariner, introduced in 1953 for deep-sea divers, has evolved into a status symbol, frequently worn by professionals in finance. After all, when we think of Rolex, the Submariner is the image that comes to mind most often.
Certain Submariner models, such as the limited-production green-dial "Hulk" edition (2010–2020), have seen value surges, particularly during a frenzy for pre-owned luxury watches in 2022.

However, the $50 billion estimate assumes most of the nearly four million watches are intact, despite some undoubtedly being lost or irreparable.
Rolex remains dominant in the growing secondary market for luxury timepieces, now worth an estimated $35 billion annually, according to Deloitte. Notably, Rolex recently entered the pre-owned market through its certified resale program, solidifying its position as a true leader in the watch world.
