Kim Kardashian’s $7M Fit at the Paris Robbery Trial

16/05/2025

It’s not every day that a courtroom becomes a runway.

But then again, it’s not every day that Kim Kardashian walks into a Paris court hearing, ten years after being bound, gagged, and robbed of $10 million worth of jewellry in the infamous 2016 Hôtel de Pourtalès heist.

While most people would treat a courtroom appearance like a quiet, serious affair, Kim did what she does best - focusing the worldwide attention on her. She arrived in diamonds. Lots of them.

The notorious celebrity was in Paris to testify at the criminal trial of a dozen men accused of orchestrating the robbery that left her psychologically shaken and, reportedly, forever changed. But instead of understated elegance, Kardashian opted for what can only be described as a loud: sleek black tailoring and approximately $7 million in high jewelry.

Quiet Outfit, Obnoxious Jewellery

The outfit wasn’t anything too outrageous: a sharp, minimalist black suit. No lace. No sheer panels. No logos. A quiet, clean silhouette - more C-suite than red carpet. The fabric was rich but reserved, and the tailoring was razor-sharp. She clearly tried to portray confidence and hide the obvious trauma she still experiences after the Parisian events.

Where she definitely didn’t attempt to be discreet was the jewelry.

Kardashian wore an astonishing Samer Halimeh necklace featuring 80 diamonds, totaling a reported value of $3 million. Halimeh is no stranger to celebrity, but this piece was less “borrowed for the night” and more “vault-level private collection.” A masterwork of high jewelry, the necklace sat on her neck with the casual feel of someone who’s worn multi-million-dollar pieces before - which she has.

And it didn’t stop there.

Also on display: a massive diamond ring, multi-stone earrings, and ear cuffs to match. The total value of her jewelry that day was estimated to hit around $7 million.

For context, that’s 70% of the value of the goods stolen in the original robbery - the very reason this trial exists.

Irony, Bad Taste, or Genius PR?

There’s no denying the symbolism.

Kim was robbed of $10 million worth of jewels in 2016, held at gunpoint in a luxury Paris residence, and forced to hand over her prized possessions. Among them: her 20-carat diamond engagement ring from Kanye West, valued at $4 million at the time. That ring was never recovered. And it was widely believed the event was the turning point that pushed Kim away from public flaunting of her valuables.

So, is wearing $7 million worth of diamonds to the trial tone-deaf?

Maybe. But not necessarily.

Why this may have been a good move:

Control the Narrative

Kim doesn’t want to appear as a victim. Instead, she wants the world to see her as strong and in control. The jewellery, although expensive, was psychological armour. This is a woman who was once terrorised for her wealth. A decade later, she’s wealthier, more famous, and seemingly unbothered.

Make a Point

For anyone watching - especially the accused - there’s a silent message: You took $10 million from me. I can replace it. And I will still show up wearing more. Whether conscious or not, it’s a form of courtroom dominance.

Reclaiming the Trauma

After the 2016 robbery, Kim retreated from public life, dialled down her fashion statements, and spoke openly about how her relationship to material wealth had changed. Coming full circle in high jewellery doesn’t necessarily mean hypocrisy. It could be healing on her own terms. The ways of Kim are mysterious after all.

Calculated Coverage

Kardashian is synonymous with debatable publicity. A low-key outfit would’ve been ignored. A $7M diamond display? Every outlet from Vogue to TMZ took the bait. The photos are everywhere. Publicity needs to be gathered; it doesn’t come on its own.

Let’s Talk About That Samer Halimeh Necklace

Samer Halimeh New York isn’t exactly a household name, but it is if your zip code begins with 90210 or SW1. The Lebanese-American jeweller specialises in ultra-high-end pieces, many of which never see a public display. Most of his work is bespoke, and this particular necklace is no exception.

The 80 diamonds are believed to be flawless to internally flawless in clarity, and mostly D to F in colour - the highest possible grades. It’s not simply about size or sparkle here, but mostly about uniformity, rarity, and sourcing ethics. Halimeh is known for only using conflict-free stones, cut and set under the strictest standards.

The price tag is around $3 million, but don’t expect to find it online. This is private inventory territory, where negotiations happen behind closed doors over Château Pétrus and NDAs.

The Ring, the Earrings, the Cuffs

While the necklace was the centrepiece, the supporting players were no less impressive.

  • The ring: Large, likely in the 15–20 carat range. Cushion cut. Estimated $2 million. Bold, but not oversized. Just enough to say “yes, I can replace the one you took.”

  • Earrings: Multi-stone drop style. Probably north of $1 million.

  • Ear cuffs: Matching stones, modern shape. Coordinated but edgy. Estimated $500,000–$700,000 depending on origin and clarity.

Add it all up, and you’re staring at a total $7 million jewellery collection, worn with the casual detachment of someone used to security details and armoured vehicles.

The Trial 10 Years Later

This hearing obviously wasn’t about Kim’s jewellery. The robbery took place in October 2016, when a group of masked men disguised as police officers broke into her residence and tied her up while they looted her belongings.

Twelve suspects, including the alleged ringleader, are now facing trial. Most of the men are in their 60s and 70s. Some have already confessed.

The stolen goods are mostly gone. Except for one diamond that surfaced in Antwerp, nearly all items vanished into the black market. The famous Kanye ring remains unrecovered. Some believe it was dismantled. Others claim it’s sitting in a private collection somewhere in the Middle East.

Either way, the trial is being watched closely, and not just because of Kardashian’s fame, but because it highlights the vulnerability of even the most protected celebrities, and the growing complexity of luxury-targeted crime.

Cultural Impact: Wealth Signalling in the Post-Kardashian Era

When Kim was robbed, it sparked a cultural reckoning. Influencers toned down. Jewelry posts disappeared. Even longtime flexers like Floyd Mayweather got a little quieter. The question was: Are we oversharing our wealth online?

But ten years later, the pendulum has swung again.

Luxury is being shown nonstop, tasteful or not.

And Kardashian is still at the center of that conversation.
