New Fifty Fathoms x Swatch timepiece - This time, they really nailed it
When the new collab between Swatch and Blancpain was released back in September, the whole watch world went crazy. Just like with MoonSwatch, we could have seen lines longer than those for a new iPhone - in fact, the demand was so huge that Swatch had to make a limit of one piece per person per day. It was madness!

However, the hype with the FiftySwatch (working title, don’t shame us) was not as long-lasting as with the MoonSwatch. The five watches named after the world's oceans were great, but the colors and overall style made them quite unwearable.

Well, this all changes with their brand-new release - the Fifty Fathoms x Swatch Ocean of Storms.
With this one, the Swatch group hit a jackpot.
To make it as simple as possible for you, imagine this new release as the Mission to the Moon of this new collection. No whacky colours, just pure class.

The whole timepiece is made in black, from the bioceramic, brushed case, to the black strap and dark black dial, which has barely noticeable orange accents for the depth rating.
Unlike the Arctic and Antarctic Ocean’n, which opted for a more vintage look, the Ocean of Storms leans towards modern aesthetics, with the 4 core hour markers made in luminescent numerals, the contemporary Blancpain logo, and the signature NATO strap. And of course, we can’t forget the beautiful date window between the 4th and 5th hour marker.

There is only one last question left. We have 5 oceans on our planet. The collection has 6 watches. 6 watches for 5 oceans hardly add up. No worries, the guys at Swatch did not forget to count.
The Ocean of Storms is named after an ocean that is (conveniently) not on Planet Earth, but rather on the Moon - a 2 million square kilometer big water mass called the Oceanus Procellarum. And just like every FiftySwatch, even this one has its nudibranch called Okenia Luna, chosen for its name and particular pale color.

So, to summarize the new release, which you can start getting in Swatch stores on 11 January: We think it’s the best of the Fifty Fathoms x Swatch pieces to this day.
The sleek and stylish colour finally opens door for the not only enthusiasts, but also more casual wearers, who just want a good and cheap watch with the name of a legend on its dial, but also a practical, convenient, and mainly wearable design.

Last year, Swatch released a lot of new MoonSwatches, so we can only be excited about all the nice things Swatch has prepared for us this year. Who knows, maybe we can even get a new collaboration…
