Rolex from the space goes to auction
Yes, we’re not kidding! The Rolex GMT Master that was worn by Edgar Mitchell on the Apollo 14 mission is going to auction with RR Auction!
About the watch
This specific GMT Master was the first Rolex on the Moon, which already makes it a piece of history. It’s your typical Red & Blue model from 1971, with an engraving "Worn by CDR. E. Mitchell on Apollo 14, 1971. To Karlin [sic] – My Daughter."

The watch obviously comes with a letter of authenticity, signed by Mitchell himself.

How is it possible that Mitchell had a Rolex watch when Omeag was the official space program partner?
Every astronaut was given a Speedmaster to wear on their suit, but they could also wear their private timepiece under the suit, and Micthell (among others) went with is, going with his trusted GMT Master.

The price
RR Auction listed the watch at a starting price of approximately $400,000, but it will surely go up.
