These 2 recently discontinued Rolex watches are becoming popular again
Some time ago, we had the pleasure of talking about some of the rarest and least-known Rolex models out there.
We introduced you to models like the Space-Dweller or Veriflat, showing you that even many years ago, Rolex was a thing.
So today, let’s have a look at another batch of discontinued Rolex models - this time, we have a couple of picks from recent years. Here, you can find our 2 favorites.

Rolex Milgauss 116400GV
Milgauss is a classic. Rolex developed this model in 1956 to give a helping hand to the scientists of that era.
Back in the day, a normal watch could withstand around 50 to 100 gauss (a unit for measuring magnetic fields), so Rolex came up with a special timepiece that could comfortably handle 1000 gauss.
And that’s where the name comes from - “mille” (thousand) + “gauss”
The model we have here is a much newer version. Today, magnetic resistance is not as big of a problem in day-to-day activities, so the watch is worn for its other beautiful aspects - the green sapphire crystal and the unique second hand.
The dial of this timepiece is covered by a striking green sapphire crystal, the first in the entire watch industry. Thanks to the particular colour there are subtle green accents on the edges of the crystal.
The second hand of this ref. the number shows that Rolex still has some sense of humor. The brand decided to make it orange and in the shape of lightning.
What we love the most about this exemplar is its versatility. You can dress it up or down - the watch just always seems appropriate. From our experience, other collectors and watch wearers tend to find this model hilarious, something you wear to show you understand the history and value of the brand while having a little fun.
Rolex discontinued this model very recently, but you can already see the prices skyrocketing. Especially the green crystal version is in huge demand.

Rolex Cellini Danaos 4243
When you think of Rolex, you probably don’t imagine a dress watch. Well, even though it was not their main concern, Rolex made their fair share of very classy, leather-strap timepieces.
Those alternative watches were known as the Cellini line, and throughout the years, they managed to produce some real showstoppers.
Our favourite pick is certainly the Cellini Danos, a special branch within the Cellini line. What sets these watches apart is the very particular and unique cushion-shaped case.
You see, most Cellinis were round, with a couple of models made rectangular, but the symbiosis of forms you can see in Danaos makes it a one-of-a-kind thing.
This beautiful exemplar we have here is made in rose gold and perfectly underlines the overall appeal of the Danaos. The big and easy-to-read dial is a great and practical feature.
As a proper dress watch, Rolex included a manual wound movement.
When you wear Danaos, people are often surprised that they see a Rolex logo on the dial. It is the type of watch people will ask you about because it looks so elegant and classy. No one expects a Rolex dress watch, that’s why this is one of the easiest ways to make yourself stand out on any gala evening or party.
Next week, you can expect some more of our favorite discontinued Rolex picks. We can tell you that you have something to look forward to.
