Oh YEAH, another Blancpain x Swatch Watch Is Here
I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve got a weakness for dive watches. I don’t dive much, but there’s just something about a chunky case, a rotating bezel, and the fantasy of surviving an underwater mission that gets me every time.
So when Swatch and Blancpain teamed up in 2023 to create the Scuba Fifty Fathoms line - a playful, affordable homage to one of the most important dive watches ever made - I was immediately curious. And now, just in time for summer 2025, they’ve added a new version to the mix: the Green Abyss.
It’ll be hitting Swatch boutiques on Saturday, June 7, for around €370 (yep, still no online sales). And as someone who normally avoids bright watches, I’m surprised how into this one I am.

A Quick Refresher: What’s the Deal With These Watches?
The original Blancpain Fifty Fathoms is a legit icon. Born in the '50s, it was one of the first purpose-built dive watches, worn by elite military divers. Swatch, meanwhile, is the fun uncle of the watch world - plastic, affordable, and simply playful.
So when the two brands teamed up for a mechanical, Bioceramic (Swatch’s signature eco-friendly material) version of the Fifty Fathoms, it turned heads. Some purists rolled their eyes. Others thought, yeah, this is fun.
The new “Green Abyss” follows the same formula: 42.3mm case, 14.4mm thick, 91 meters of water resistance (which equals exactly fifty fathoms, hence the name). Inside is Swatch’s Sistem51 automatic movement - a one-piece, machine-assembled Swiss movement with a wild 90-hour power reserve. Not bad for under €400.

So What’s New About This One?
The headline is the colour. The “Green Abyss” comes in a rich forest green case and bezel, which honestly looks pretty sharp paired with cream-colored lume on the hands and hour markers. It’s not neon or lime or grass green - more like deep pine. Serious, but still fun.
The bezel itself is unidirectional (as any dive bezel should be), made from green Bioceramic with a black resin insert that has lume markers embedded. It’s bold but wearable. And unlike some of the earlier models that felt a bit toy-like, this one has more of a military-tool-watch vibe.

Do I Need This Watch?
Absolutely not. But want? Yeah, kinda.
Let’s be real. This is not the kind of piece that will make other watch guys stare at your wrist. You’re not flexing with this. But if you’re someone who already loves the Fifty Fathoms story, and you want a cheerful summer beater with some horological cred, this is a great pick.
The best part? It’s mechanical. No quartz here. Swatch and Blancpain stayed true to the “no quartz ever” rule Blancpain has upheld since Jean-Claude Biver brought the brand back to life in the ‘80s. That’s why, even in this fun plastic package, you’re getting real watchmaking DNA.
And that matters to some of us.

A Personal Take
Personally, I’ve always liked the idea of the Scuba Fifty Fathoms but didn’t love the colors - until now. The “Indian Ocean” was too playful. The “Pacific” was too yellow. Even the black version felt a little… flat. But this green hits a nice middle ground. It’s still fun, but I could wear it without feeling like I’m cosplaying as a jelly bean.
Plus, with that NATO strap and 91 meters of water resistance, it’s the kind of piece you can throw on for a weekend trip, a beach day, or even just walking the dog. No stress. No scratch paranoia.
Is it a watch you’ll pass down to your kids? Nahh. But will it make you smile every time you check the time? Very likely.

Final Thoughts
If you’re into watches, you already know this release will cause a stir. Expect extra long lines. Expect people flipping them online even though they’re not limited editions.
But more than anything, expect a fun, well-designed watch that doesn’t take itself too seriously. This might just be the best Scuba Fifty Fathoms yet.
TL;DR:
Blancpain and Swatch are back with another colourful take on their budget-friendly dive watch collab. The new Green Abyss edition is a forest green mechanical diver with real character, dropping in Swatch boutiques on June 7 for about €370. Fun, wearable, and maybe the best colour yet - if you can get your hands on one.
