A Moon on the Wrist

04/12/2025

There is something romantic about a moonphase watch done right. It is one of those complications that feels completely unnecessary in daily life, yet the watch industry know why they are pumping so many of those out each year. It is just adorable.

With the Streamliner Perpetual Moon Concept Meteorite, H. Moser & Cie. leans fully into that feeling - but instead of going for cold, silvery cosmic vibes, they warm things up in a way you don’t often see.

At first, it’s still very much a Streamliner. The smooth, fluid case. The integrated steel bracelet that looks very industrial. The clean, text-free “Concept” dial philosophy. But then you notice the colour of the dial - a rich, golden-brown fumé tone that almost feels like late-evening sunlight.

Meteorite, but Not as You Know It

Most meteorite dials out there start as the same raw material. In this case, that material is the famous Gibeon meteorite, long favoured by dial makers for its dramatic structure. What’s different here is the colour treatment. Instead of leaving it silvery and cold, the dial is given a warm fumé finish that shifts between bronze, gold, and dark brown depending on the light.

The hands and moon match that warmth beautifully. Both are made in 5N red gold, giving the whole display a cohesive, almost glowing look. Moser uses Globolight inserts on the hour and minute hands, so even with the darker dial, you still get nighttime visibility. The moon itself is polished red gold, floating in a deep brown sky without stars, markers, or text of any kind. It’s minimalist, but far from boring.

The Streamliner Case - Fluid Steel with Real Presence

The watch sits in a 40mm stainless steel case that is 13.2mm thick. On paper, that might sound a little chunky, but a good part of that height comes from the domed crystal. Visually and on the wrist, it wears slimmer than the numbers suggest.

The case design is one of the Streamliner’s strongest assets. Everything flows - no sharp breaks, no traditional lugs, no distracting edges. It feels like a single piece of metal. The integrated steel bracelet continues that same design language. It’s sporty, but not aggressive. Elegant, but not delicate.

Water resistance is rated to 120 meters, which is quite impressive for a moonphase watch with this level of finishing. You could genuinely wear this as an everyday piece without feeling like you need to baby it.

A Moonphase Built for the Long Game

Inside, Moser uses its HMC 270 automatic movement, an evolution of the brand’s earlier perpetual moon calibres. It offers a 72-hour power reserve and drives hours, minutes, central seconds, and the moonphase. The real headline here is the moon accuracy - it is off by just one day every 1,027 years. In practical terms, that means you will never have to worry about correcting it in your lifetime.

If the watch does stop, adjusting the moonphase is handled by a discreet push button set into the side of the case. No ugly corrector tools, no awkward fiddling - just a clean, integrated solution.

The movement itself is finished in Moser’s signature anthracite tone with double stripes and partially skeletonised bridges.

How It All Comes Together on the Wrist

What makes this watch work - at least on paper - is the balance. The Streamliner case and bracelet are inherently modern and slightly industrial. The meteorite dial brings in something ancient and organic. The warm fumé colour softens what could otherwise feel too technical. Then the red gold hands and moon add just enough luxury to remind you this is still a high-end Swiss piece.

Legibility is the only area where personal taste really comes into play. The red gold hands against a brown-gold meteorite background look stunning, but they don’t offer the contrast of white hands on a black dial. In strong lighting, it should be perfectly readable. In low light, Globolight helps, but this is clearly a watch that prioritises atmosphere over clarity.

That said, the absence of indexes, logos, or text on the dial keeps everything incredibly clean. Your eye goes straight to the moon and the meteorite texture.

Price and Positioning

The Streamliner Perpetual Moon Concept Meteorite is priced at around €36,000. That puts it in high-luxury territory, but also in an interesting space compared to more traditional perpetual calendars and moonphase complications from bigger brands.

It is not a limited edition, and it is available now.

Final Thoughts

This version of the Streamliner feels like a brand following its own path - a mix of technical seriousness with just the right amount of playfulness. A warm meteorite dial paired with a hyper-modern steel sports case is not an obvious idea, yet it works pretty well - at least in this case.

Is it for everyone? Definitely not. Some will prefer the cleaner, more traditional Streamliner dials. But for collectors who want a moonphase that feels modern, slightly rebellious, and deeply mechanical at the same time, this one makes a strong case for itself.
