Urwerk scores again - Scorpion with a Satellite Display

For a niche manufacturer in the luxury watch industry, it’s damn hard to make it. Usually, we see a steep rise followed by a quick fall. Well, Urwerk is certainly NOT one of those watchmakers. The brand has a cult-like following, and it’s mainly for creations like the new UR-50.01.

The brand has just launched the new UR-150 "Scorpion," a bold addition to their lineup. Known for its futuristic designs, the UR-150 features a curved case and an expanded satellite time display. The key highlight is its new mechanism: a retrograde hand that sweeps over a 240º minute track—double the usual arc for a more accurate time display.

The hour frame jumps from 60 to 0 in just 1/100th of a second, requiring huge power and speed. To manage this, Urwerk introduced a speed regulator, a feature typically found in minute repeaters, ensuring smooth operation.

 

The UR-150 comes in two versions: the "Titan," with sandblasted titanium and steel and green accents, and the "Dark," featuring PVD-treated anthracite steel.

Both versions have Super-LumiNova for better readability and are paired with a KISKA rubber strap. The case measures 42.49mm x 14.79mm with 50 meters of water resistance.

Powered by the automatic UR-50.01 movement, it has a twin-turbine winding system visible through the back, offering a 43-hour power reserve.

 

Each version is limited to 50 pieces, with prices set at CHF 88,000 for the Titan and CHF 89,000 for the Dark.
