The Dawn of a New Era with URWERK

The launch of the UR-101 and UR-102 in 1997 marked a turning point in watchmaking. These models, inspired by everything from Star Wars to Sputnik satellites, showcased a radical departure from traditional watch aesthetics with their bold, untraditional shapes and cutting-edge technology. URWERK was not just making watches; they were crafting wearable pieces of advanced horological art.

The UR-103: A Breakthrough in Design and Functionality

It was the UR-103 that truly cemented URWERK's position in the luxury watch market. This model, launched in 2003,  introduced a unique approach to time display through a small window that revealed revolving disks, creating an almost enigmatic allure around its mechanics. The design was not only innovative but visually striking, challenging the conventions of traditional watch displays.

Expanding Horizons with Creative Collaborations

The collaboration with Maximilian Büsser (former CEO of Harry Winston and founder of MB&F brand) and the subsequent Harry Winston Opus V project (2005) propelled URWERK into the spotlight. Following this, the brand continued to explore and expand with creations like the UR-201, UR-CC1, UR-110, and the UR-1001 pocket watch. Each piece was a testament to URWERK’s relentless pursuit of innovation, combining extraordinary mechanics with audacious design.

Technological Mastery: The Introduction of the EMC

With the EMC model, introduced in 2013, URWERK created the first high-end mechanical watch that allows wearers to easily adjust its timing, catering to the changes experienced during daily wear.

Despite its sophisticated appearance, the EMC is remarkably user-friendly. It combines traditional finishes, such as Côtes de Genève, with groundbreaking technology, earning it two prestigious awards at the GPHG in 2014.

This watch is like a high-tech dashboard for your wrist. Built-in is a crank that, when turned, powers up a mini computer and sensor to check the watch's timing. It's like a self-checkup in a matter of seconds. If it's not perfectly accurate, an accessible screw allows anyone to fine-tune the timing without any special tools or expertise.

Looking to the Future

From their audacious beginnings to their current status as pioneers, URWERK's journey is a vivid chapter in the story of modern horology, proving that even the most traditional industries can embrace innovation and change.

With each new release, they redefine the possibilities of design and technology, ensuring that the tradition of Swiss watchmaking not only endures but evolves.
