Omega Closes 2024 with the new Speedmaster Pilot

While we imagine most soldiers rely on watches like G-Shocks, pilots often get the posh wristwear. Omega’s new Speedmaster Pilot, inspired by military aesthetics, now offers civilians a taste of this elite style.

 

First teased earlier this year in a U-2 spy plane wrist shot, the Speedmaster Pilot initially seemed exclusive to U.S. military personnel. Now, a civilian version is available, complete with a matching steel bracelet and design similar to Omega’s 1970s Flightmaster.

 

The watch comes with a 40.85mm stainless steel case with straight lugs, a matte aluminum bezel, and a tachymeter scale in orange and white.

Its grained, matte-black dial is the star: dual subdials include a 60-minute and 12-hour totalizer with cockpit-inspired colors at 3 o’clock and a running-seconds counter at 9 o’clock featuring an artificial horizon design. 

Splashes of orange, blue, and yellow bring energy, while Super-LumiNova hands and indices glow green for easy readability.

Powered by Omega’s automatic Calibre 9900, the watch offers a 60-hour power reserve and water resistance to 100m. The civilian model differs from its military counterpart with a more refined bracelet and Omega’s hippocampus logo on the caseback.
